Description of position chairman

The chairman is elected to a paid position with a 38,36% employment percentage (14.39 hours a week) paid based on the governmental pay grade 25. 

The position complies with regular days off and holidays, in addition to 5 weeks of vocation. 

Overtime is compensated for with time off in lieu in agreement with the Executive Committee (AU). 

Area of responsibilities 

The chairman is the administrative, practical, and constitutional manager of the Welfare Council (VT). 

The chairman of the Welfare Council is responsible for the daily operations in the organization, and has an office located at Gimlemoen 24 according to the agreement with The Student Organization in Agder (STA). 

The chairman has superior responsibility for following up the terms of reference and the Welfare Council´s policy. 

The chairman shall not personally set an agenda for the organization but has the superior responsibility for bringing into effect the resolutions made by the Welfare Council or the Executive Committee. 

The chairman is responsible for inviting members to meetings in the Welfare Council and Executive Committee and making sure that case documents for these are sent out according to the regulations. The chairman is the chairperson of the Welfare Council and Executive Committee. 

The chairman is responsible for preparing and following-up the work plan. 

The chairman is the face of the Welfare Council to the outside world and a media contact and is responsible for making sure that the Welfare Council is an active consultative body. 

The chairman has the right to speak on behalf of all students associated with the Student Welfare Organisation in Agder, the Welfare Council, and the Executive Committee, in matters concerning welfare policies. 

The chairman is responsible for making sure that the Welfare Council is represented in board meetings at the Student Welfare Organization in Agder and student parliament meetings in the University of Agder (UiA), in accordance with the collaboration agreements. 

The chairman is responsible for contact with local politicians and the labour market and shall hence put interests of the students on the agenda. In addition, the chairman is responsible for ensuring good collaboration between the member institutions. 

The chairman is responsible for ensuring that the Welfare Council is an active member of the national network Welfare Councils of Norway (ViN) and comments on political matters concerning student welfare. 

The chairman is responsible for exercise and cafeteria. 

The chairman has to follow up his/her tasks given by the Welfare Council and distributed by the executive Committee.
